Re-launch of Cape Town Tourism’s Visitor Information Centre
Western Cape MEC for Tourism Alan Winde admires the new interactive map at Cape Town Tourism’s revamped Visitor Information Centre in Burg Street, Cape Town.
Last Thursday, January 21, 2010, saw the launch of Cape Town Tourism’s new-look Visitor Information Centre in Burg Street, in Cape Town’s city centre. The lavish event, attended by dignitaries and role-players in the tourism industry and the media, showcased the visitor centre’s stunning new look.
Belinda van Niekerk, acting CEO of Cape Town Tourism, Ian Bartes, chairman of Cape Town Tourism, and Ian Nielson, executive deputy mayor of the City of Cape Town, were present for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and to pop the champagne, to officially launch the city’s flagship information centre to welcome locals and tourists.
As the bubbly flowed and R&B artist Chad Saaiman entertained, guests took the opportunity to test-drive the visitor centre’s new additions.
A state-of-the-art, interactive map covers one wall, allowing visitors instant access to information about Cape Town’s hot spots, while the new Cape Town shop offers tourists T-shirts, posters and other souvenirs as mementoes of our awesome Mother City.
The excitement at the launch is a forerunner of the excitement in store for Cape Town as the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ approaches, and with the new-look Cape Town Visitor Information Centre, the city is sure to keep visitors informed and entertained.
