President Obama to come to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup

United States President Barack Obama has officially accepted an invitation to attend the opening ceremony of the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup.

According to sport24.co.za, the opening ceremony will take place on June 11, 2010 at Soccer City in Johannesburg.

The new, ultra-modern stadium’s capacity is 100 000.

The opening game will feature either defending world champions Italy or hosts Bafana Bafana.

President Obama’s acceptance of this invitation is yet another reason for the excitement to mount in the run-up to the World Cup.
