Perfectly poised in the Company Gardens – Flickr pic of the day

This photograph of a statue in the Company Gardens was taken by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Marie-Marthe Gagnon aka paspossible.

Marie-Marthe says, “On my first day in Cape Town I walked downtown for hours with my camera and a map. I was heading to the South Africa National Gallery when I saw these birds in the Company Gardens.

“It was one of those moments when you have to shoot right away – in three seconds, one of the birds would fly away and it would be too late.

“Cape Town offers so much, it’s one of the most gorgeous cities in the world,” she continues.

The Company Gardens, a large park and botanical garden, is home to several statues. This one commemorates the World War I battle of Delville Wood, in which more than 2 000 South African soldiers died.
