People and penguins – Flickr pic of the day

This photograph of Boulders Beach was taken by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Krieger Conradt.

Krieger says, “I was staying in Plumstead and took the train down to Boulders. It is so beautiful there and the penguins are a real treat.”

“I was amazed how the penguins shared the rocks with the sun bathers. It is really the penguins’ turf – we just share it with them,” he continues.

Boulders is situated near Simon’s Town in False Bay between Fish Hoek and Cape Point. It is a popular swimming beach and the big, round boulders on the sandy beach provide some shade and shelter.

Because it’s part of the Table Mountain National Park, there is an entrance fee for conservation of the penguins that live here.
