Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon in Cape Town’s southern suburbs
The Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon, held in Cape Town on Saturday, April 3, attracted thousands of visitors from around the world.
Tara Turkington watched the runners pass through the southern suburbs, from a viewing point near the city’s Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.
Most of the runners in the large field stuck together for the first few kilometres, before the more accomplished athletes broke away from the rest.
Competitors headed from Newlands towards Chapman’s Peak and this runner clearly had breath to spare.
The race ended at University of Cape Town, with most runners finishing in time to enjoy a late breakfast.
