My Cape Town Ambassador: Christi Wiehann
Born and raised in Parow, Christi Wiehann has been skating since 1994 and making a successful career in skateboarding for the past four years.
Ranked the number one skateboarder in South Africa, Christi competes across the world but admits there is no better place to “live the dream” than in the Mother City.
We spoke to Christi about being a My Cape Town Ambassador:
Cape Town Tourism: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Christi Wiehann: I have always wanted to be a professional skateboarder. I love the street vibe and urban feel.
Cape Town Tourism: What do you love most about Cape Town?
Christi Wiehann: Cape Town has one of the best club scenes in the world! From Edward Street in Bellville to Long Street in the city, you can find a good spot anywhere in Cape Town.
Cape Town Tourism: Where’s your favourite spot in Cape Town in winter?
Christi Wiehann: Any indoor racing or skating venue.
Cape Town Tourism: And in summer?
Christi Wiehann: Any outdoor racing or skating venue. I love Camps Bay in summer.
Cape Town Tourism: What does the phrase My Cape Town mean to you?
Christi Wiehann: It’s simple: My Cape Town equals My Home.
Cape Town Tourism: What makes you proudly Capetonian?
Christi Wiehann: I really can’t see myself anywhere else. This is the most beautiful city in the world. Anyone can come to Cape Town and make it their home.
Cape Town Tourism: What inspires you about this city?
Christi Wiehann: I have travelled overseas many times but confirm with passion that this IS the most beautiful city in the world.
