My Top 3 Summer Cape Winelands Spots
Fazielah Williams has lived in and loved her Mother City since birth. Having lived all over the Peninsula during her childhood, she now calls the picturesque City Bowl home and likes nothing more than watching the sun set over Table Bay from the window of her apartment.
A lover of the arts and proud Cape Town fanatic, Fazielah began her writing career by spending many hours as a child conjuring fantastical stories that featured independent heroines from faraway lands who saved the Prince instead. This Capetonian princess has enjoyed stints as a magical arts PRO and TV publicist before finding her calling as a travel writer.
When not waxing lyrical about the Fairest Cape’s most loved attractions and activities and embarking on unexpected adventures, Fazielah can usually be found taking in a show at one of the City’s fabulous theatres.
There is something about sipping a chilled glass of premium white wine on a bright, sunny day, surrounded by acres and acres of gorgeous greenery that simply screams summer in the Cape Winelands.
With our rich and tasty viticultural history and endlessly beautiful estates, it’s quite difficult to choose my favourites but here are my top three Summer Winelands spots:
Romantic doesn’t even begin to describe this Paarl gem, which boasts an on-site natural cascading waterfall, unparalleled views of the olive groves at the base of the Klein Drakenstein Mountains and 15 luxury rooms, including a honeymoon suite , complete with a ceiling mirror and other sensual aides.
Often used as a wedding venue, the Manor is owned by Volker and Maika Goetze who were married on the grounds themselves. In addition to producing their own olive oil (which is also used in their luxurious Spa treatments), this boutique hotel offer a range of outdoor activities, including hiking and mountain bike trails, short drives to nearby historical sites like the Nelson Mandela statue at Groot Drakenstein Prison.
Top tip: When booking your spa treatment, request it for outside, alongside the waterfall, for an all-natural experience!

Conveniently situated along the City Sightseeing Bus ‘Wine Route so that you can drink and have fun responsibly, this beautiful winery in Constantia truly lives up to its name with breathtakingly vistas and outstanding wines.
If you’re popping by, do try their canapés and wine tasting special. For just R 135, you can savour a variety of delicious themed canapés and five of their superb wines in their amazing tasting room, perched just above the spectacular vineyard.
Did you know? Beau Constantia produces two premium red blends, each hand-crafted to its own unique style by winemaker, Justin van Wyk and named for family members, Lucca and Aidan.

Delaire Graff Estate
This Stellenbosch winery is just one of the decadent stops along the newly launched Foodroutes, South Africa’s first premier online portal for foodies, but definitely my favourite.
Whether you are enjoying a lavishly prepared meal at their restaurants, milling about and admiring the contemporary collection of South African art and sculptures, staying the night in one of their luxurious rooms or simply admiring the amazing views from the terrace, Delaire is worth the drive.
Fun fact: You can book and plan your unique foodie experience and itinerary via Foodroutes.
