Melkbosstrand fishermen – Flickr pic of the day

This image of the simple pleasures of Cape Town life was taken by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Jo-Ann Stokes aka JStokes2008.

Jo-Ann says, “This photo was taken at the lovely, quaint, holiday town of Melkbosstrand. This little beach town is about 30 minutes out of Cape Town and is the perfect place to forget about the hectic city life! If you are looking for a relaxing beach experience, Melkbos is the place to go!”

Melkbosstrand is the first village one comes across on a drive north from Cape Town along the Cape west coast.

Bathed by the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean, “Melkbos”, as it is better known by locals, offers a perfect place for long walks along the beach, surfing at Corner, Tubewave and Derdesteen, spectacular sunsets, safe swimming, kitesurfing, crayfishing, boating, windsurfing, whale watching and beautiful views of Robben Island and Table Mountain.
