Meet the Clipper Around The World Yacht Race in Cape Town
The Clipper Around The World Yacht Race, the world's longest ocean race, is in Cape Town. The twelve yachts competing in the race have just arrived from a 3 390 mile South Atlantic trek to Cape Town, and are docked at the North Dock at the V & A Waterfront. Last weekend, we were able to welcome Great Britain who was the first yacht to arrive on our shores. The weather conditions caused a bit of a delay in their arrival, but the yachts managed to make it to a sunny Cape Town on Saturday morning.
After a 30 minute delay and no word from Clipper, we tracked their Twitter profile and managed to get a glimpse of their progress as the first yacht makes its way to the V & A Waterfront harbour.
The wind was intense; an hour later and still no sign of the yachts.
The support yacht reported that Great Britain was in the lead - excited fans waiting for them to arrive.
And there they are; the first yacht to cross the finish line in Cape Town - Great Britain.
The teams are docked at the North Dock at the V & A Waterfront. The Clipper Around The World Yacht Race will provide a daily update from 4 November when Race 4 to Albany, Western Australia starts from Cape Town. Swing by and say hi before they leave!
