Loyiso rocks Cape Town ahead of Bafana Bafana vs Uruguay

It wasn’t nearly as cold as it was on Monday night, when pouring rain and a short burst of hail pelted football supporters waiting for the Italy vs Paraguay match at Cape Town Stadium, but the massive crowd at Cape Town’s FIFA Fan Fest™ were huddled together anyway to groove to South African R&B star Loyiso’s smooth, party-perfect music.
From the front all the way to the back, 25 000-or-so heads were bopping, hips were swaying and vuvuzelas and flags were high in the air.
Loyiso and his band, whose high-energy performance preceded the world-record attempt at the largest Diski Dance ever, performed all his hits. His bold bass beats were a perfect complement to the hyped-up energy that filled the Grand Parade tonight ahead of Bafana Bafana’s second 2010 FIFA World Cup™ match, this time against Uruguay.
Getting down to Loyiso.
Give Me the Night and So Sick were crowd favourites and the sound of thousands of voices singing along rang out across the venue. Loyiso and his silky-smooth voice were in complete command of the audience, and when he took off his swanky black jacket to reveal a bright yellow Bafana Bafana soccer shirt, the crowd went absolutely berserk.
Besides the fantastic entertainment by one of South Africa’s biggest and best acts, there was but one thing on everyone’s minds: how will our boys do tonight?
