Long Street’s the place to stay for The Loerie Awards

This year the Loeries advertising awards move to Cape Town, the ideal place to celebrate creativity (or just about anything else). The organisers of the event, to be held on September 25-27, are creating a Loeries Village centred on Long Street. All the official accommodation for agencies is in the village – everything from Backpackers to the Sugar Daddy Suite – and official transport will be supplied from this point around the clock throughout the festival weekend.

The Grand Daddy Hotel on Long Street is where registration will take place – and it has an awesome roof deck and lounge where the award contenders and partygoers can sip a cocktail between sipping cocktails.

As Thursday September 24 is a public holiday this will be a great opportunity to get a head start. The SABC Battle of the Bands and the legendary Chairman’s Party will be on Thursday evening – as well as a welcome VIP shindig thrown by the mayor of Cape Town. This year, breaking the tradition, the ADS24 and SABC awards ceremonies will be held on the Friday and Saturday evenings.

After-parties on Friday and Saturday will be in Long Street and include a fantastic line-up of DJs till the sun rises. And for the indomitable, the festivity continues during the day along the Camps Bay beachfront, where the famous Velocity Party will lead the pack.

Advertising agencies should get their entries in before they start packing for Cape Town. Entries for the 31st Annual Loerie Awards open on March 16.

Tickets to the awards ceremony will be on sale from April.
