The Loeries Travelling Exhibition will be on show at the Oliewenhuis Art Museum in Bloemfontein, from May 31 to June 11, 2010.
The exhibition, sponsored by software provider Adobe, showcases the winning works from the 31st Annual Loerie Awards. The exhibition travels around South Africa, aiming to educate, inspire and entertain those who view it.
Adobe is sponsoring the exhibition in 2010 as part of the company’s 20th anniversary commemoration of its flagship graphic design product, Photoshop.
“ We are truly excited about Adobe’s partnership with The Loerie Awards and its Travelling Exhibition,” says Leonard Rabotapi, Adobe Systems marketing manager for Africa, adding, “This relationship enables us to help promote and reward excellence in the creative industry. We certainly see our partnership growing even further to offer additional value to the creative community.”
The Oliewenhuis Museum aims to make art accessible to the general public and carries exhibits ranging from contemporary art to quilts and stamps.
“We had the Loeries Travelling Exhibition here last year for the first time and it drew an incredible number of students and young people to the museum,” says Ester le Roux, the museum’s curator. She adds, “In Bloemfontein we have four, big tertiary art departments and it really helps to get them through the doors as well.”
As part of its sponsorship of the exhibition, Adobe is hosting complimentary workshops at venues around the country. These sessions are an introduction to the new and enhanced features in Adobe Creative Suite 5 – essential for design students and professionals. The Oliewenhuis Museum workshop will take place at 16h30 on June 1, 2010.
