Lion’s Head from Table Mountain – Flickr pic of the day

This image of the stunning view of Lion’s Head from the top of Table Mountain was taken by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Philip Friederich.

Philip says, “In 2004/2005, I lived in Cape Town for a year, working as a volunteer medical doctor at Groote Schuur Hospital. In my time off, I tried to see as much as I could of Cape Town and its surrounding areas. Signal Hill and Lion’s Head were, among others, my favourite walks. Now I am back in Amsterdam but Cape Town has become a real part of my roots and I would like to go back as soon as possible.”

Signal Hill is a prominent landmark from which the historic noon gun is fired, and forms the “lion’s body” for the adjacent Lion’s Head mountain.

It offers spectacular views across the Cape Town harbour, city and Atlantic Ocean, and family-friendly picnic spots that are favourites of tourists and locals all year round.

Do you have images of Cape Town you’d like to share with us? We’d love you to join the Cape Town. Live it. Love it. Flickr group!
