Letting loose angels and demons at Club 91 in Claremont

Cape Town affords partygoers ample opportunity to let loose every day of the year, but alas, we can’t party all the time. Regular weekends are crazy enough, with so much to choose from, and that’s not to speak of all the options available to ghosts and ghouls, guys and gals, on the night of Halloween. Luckily I can say I made the right choice, heading to the Angels and Demons party at Club 91 in Claremont.
I dressed as Lestat from Interview with the Vampire and my partner was the Zombie Bride. Many were suitably impressed at the way we’d suited up, taking pictures, but perhaps our biggest compliment was given wordlessly, when someone looked at us very strangely and gave us a wide berth. It was all quite entertaining!
The crowd seemed to love what flowed from the turntables, and the room pumped to the sounds of house, R&B, and even some old school, although it was weird seeing all those coffin creatures and even some angels grooving to the beats.
A Michael Jackson lookalike was voted the best dressed male, although I do still wonder if the partygoers found him scary or were just giving the King of Pop his posthumous dues. The best dressed female turned out to be Little Red Riding Hood, although I suspect that she had a little something scary, or persuasive, in her picnic basket that swayed the vote. Who knows?
The party ended off splendidly, with many partygoers saying how awesome it was and how much they loved dressing up. Be sure to watch the party scene at Club 91 for future events – I heard a rumour from the grave that some awesome parties are in store for this summer season!
