Ready, set, GO! The popular annual Landmarks Half Marathon will once again have race fanatics’ hearts racing when it is held on Sunday November 6, 2011.
Now in its 10th year, the marathon offers participants a challenging yet gorgeous 21.1km route with unparalleled views of some of the Southern Suburbs’ most iconic landmarks.
Rondebosch Common, University of Cape Town, Rhodes Memorial, Newlands Forest, Josephine Mill and Newlands Rugby Stadium are just a few of the recognisable sights along the race route.
There is also the MySchool Move for Your Health 6km Fun Walk/Run. This secondary event gives school learners the opportunity to get active and have fun outdoors.
With a great cash prize up for grabs for the school with the most entrants in the fun run, as well footwear and other prizes for the men and women who break race records, the marathon is sure to be well attended.
Give your participation a charitable edge by bringing a soft toy along on the day to donate to the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital, which is the beneficiary of the marathon.
The host club, Western Province Cricket Club Running Section, is the start and finish point for the marathon and fun run. There will be plenty to see, do and enjoy for supportive family and friends at the club.
