Kirstenbosch colours – Flickr pic of the day
Daan says, “The picture was taken in Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in October last year. During September and October I was fortunate enough to stay in Cape Town for four weeks while studying. I did an internship at Groote Schuur Hospital and spent my free time exploring the Western Cape.
“Sadly during the first two weeks it was one of the wettest periods Cape Town has experienced (so I’ve heard). But in the last two weeks the weather turned and I could do a lot of sightseeing.
“Cape Town is one of the greatest cities I have ever visited and I can’t wait to go back. I really love the atmosphere, and the views are amazing, so for an amateur photographer there’s a lot to see.
“One of the things I like about photographing flowers is the detail you can put into it and, of course, the bright colours, of which there’s absolutely no shortage in Kirstenbosch,” he continues.
Home to over 22 000 species of plants, Kirstenbosch is well worth a visit – even if it’s just for a relaxed picnic on the beautiful lawns.
