Khayelitsha, Cape Town – Flickr pic of the day

This beautiful image showing life in Khayelitsha was captured by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Chris aka Frames-of-Mind.

Chris says, “As a Cape Town photographer I’m not just enthralled by the beaches and sunsets – every little corner of this vibrant city is pulsing with life.”

Khayelitsha (meaning “new home”) is one of Cape Town’s largest townships, and is situated some 40km (25mi) from the city centre. It consists of both formal accommodation (houses of bricks and mortar) and informal settlements (makeshift shacks).

Take a township tour to Khayelitsha on the Cape Flats. See the world from Look-Out Hill, buy crafts and eat at an African restaurant.

Do you have images of Cape Town you’d like to share with us? We’d love you to join the Cape Town. Live it. Love it. Flickr group!
