Hollywood’s sweetheart Katie Holmes is in #lovecapetown for the filming of sci-fi thriller The Giver and the Mother City has gone star crazy!
Holmes, known for her star-turning performances in TV series Dawson’s Creek and silverscreen blockbuster Batman Begins, has been visiting some of our top attractions including our wonder of nature, Table Mountain , the impressive Cape Town Stadium and Robben Island, site of former South African president Nelson Mandela’s incarceration, with her daughter Suri Cruise and entourage.
The Giver is based on author Lois Lowry’s novel about a dystopian pre-teen and is directed by Phillip Noyce. It stars Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges, True Blood hunk Alexander Skarsgard and up and comers Brenton Thwaites, as lead character Jonas , Cameron Monaghan as Asher, Jonas' best friend and Odeya Rush as Fiona, Jonas' friend and love interest.
While in Cape Town, Holmes has joined Twitter and has been tweeting up a storm about her adventures around the city:
"My sincere gratitude to Ahmed Kathrada for showing me Robben Island today. It was an honor for me. Thank you."
"Beautiful day in Cape Town."
"Can't get over how beautiful it is here in South Africa."
