Fans of Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Glen Miller and Duke Ellington will be happy to hear that their swinging sound can be heard in Cape Town from May 21-23, 2009 at the Cape Town Big Band Jazz Festival.

The festival – a community outreach project in support of big band jazz musical education in schools and colleges – will feature a number of talented youth, school and community bands.

Proceeds from the festival will go towards scholarships at various institutions, including the SA College of Music and the Beau Soleil Music for Africa Trust.

They will also help sponsor a music teacher for Manenberg High School’s steelband project.

The festival will be held at the Baxter Concert Hall at 19h45 on May 21-23.

Tickets cost R60 or R150 for all three evenings.
