Imhoff’s Gift – Flickr pic of the day

Blog Featured Image

This beautiful picture of two brides was taken by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Joy-Anne Goodenough aka Greenhairmermaid.

Joy-Anne says, “This image was taken at a wedding in Imhoff’s Gift, a small residential area near Kommetjie. The area has a very special ambience – the houses, especially those built at the water’s edge, have deep verandahs and the kind of architecture that reminds me of books like The Ya Ya Sisterhood or Tom Sawyer.

“The wedding took place at Serenity on the Lake, a luxury guest house overlooking the water. At the bottom of the landscaped garden a gate leads out to the reed-lined ‘lake’ and in the distance one can see Chapman’s Peak mountains and even the Hout Bay Sentinel beyond.

“Just up the road you’ll find the Imhoff Farm centre, a collection of quaint shops selling art, crafts, handmade chocolates and cheeses, surfboards and clothing. The Bluewater Bay restaurant has, to my mind, one of the most beautiful views in Cape Town – looking across the Imhoff ‘lake’ to Noordhoek beach and on to Hout Bay. The food is delectable (I recommend the fillet and the crème brulee). The adventurous can enjoy horse riding on the beach or even a short camel ride. And for the kids there’s the Higgledy Piggledy Farm Yard of animals and a snake and reptile park.
