I Love Cape Town Facebook page clocks up 200 000 fans

facebook fan page

The I ♥ Cape Town Facebook page has clocked up 200 000 fans! Rael Phillips became the 200 000th fan of the page this morning when he clicked the “like” button.

Rael, who is the co-founder and managing director of Omada Studios in Cape Town says, “I’ve been to many cities around the world and I can honestly say that there is no place like Cape Town. It’s the culture, the people, the sights, the food and the general relaxed atmosphere that makes it one of the most sought-after destinations. I am truly privileged to have had the opportunity to grow up, live and work in this beautiful city.”

He adds, “Being the 200 000th fan of the page is really incredible. It feels good to be part of a little piece of online history – for the guys over at Cape Town Tourism, it’s a serious milestone and also confirmation that the love for Cape Town is organic and growing exponentially!”

Cape Town Tourism CEO Mariëtte du Toit-Helmbold says, “We are very excited about hitting the 200 000 fan mark on our Facebook fan page ‘I ♥ Cape Town’. Cape Town Tourism started a serious e-marketing campaign ahead of last year’s FIFA World Cup™ tournament and has since seen the tremendous benefits of using online campaigns and social media tools in the tourism industry. Not only do these platforms make communication and bookings between travellers and industry businesses easier, they provide the perfect opportunity to showcase everything Cape Town has to offer and they make it possible for challenger destinations like us to gain credibility through user testimonials.

“Looking to the future, Cape Town Tourism continues to strengthen its brand with the use of platforms such as e-newsletters, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and most recently a partnership with collective buying site, CityMob.”

You, too, can become a fan of the I ♥ Cape Town Facebook page and can suggest this page to anyone you know who may be interested in Cape Town news and discussion.
