Hilarious line-up for Jive Cape Town Funny Festival 2013
Fazielah Williams has lived in and loved her Mother City since birth. Having lived all over the Peninsula during her childhood, she now calls the picturesque City Bowl home and likes nothing more than watching the sun set over Table Bay from the window of her apartment.
A lover of the arts and proud Cape Town fanatic, Fazielah began her writing career by spending many hours as a child conjuring fantastical stories that featured independent heroines from faraway lands who saved the Prince instead. This Capetonian princess has enjoyed stints as a magical arts PRO and TV publicist before finding her calling as a travel writer.
When not waxing lyrical about the Fairest Cape’s most loved attractions and activities and embarking on unexpected adventures, Fazielah can usually be found taking in a show at one of the City’s fabulous theatres.
It’s the number one comedy event of the year and it's returning to the Mother City this June ... friends, it’s time to gear up for the hilarious Jive Cape Town Funny Festival the Baxter Theatre, from Monday June 10 to Sunday July 7, 2013.
Formerly the Vodacom Funny Festival, this popular annual event is renowned for bringing top international and local acts to the Baxter Theatre’s stage in the Southern Suburbs. And this year is no different.
The entertainment bill reads like a who’s who of the comedy industry, from master of chaos Alan Committie as the MC to big-haired and big crowd-pleaser Marc Lottering waving the South African flag; and from the British comedian with an affinity for pianos and the Mother City, Kev Orkian, to the nimble Mooky Cornish, the Canadian former lead clown of Cirque du Soleil. Capetonian audiences are certainly in for a treat.
Esteemed guest performer Archbishop Desmond Tutu makes a very welcome return for a special charity benefit edition of this event on Wednesday June 12, 2013 in aid of the Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation.
Joining these megastars of comedy on stage are hysterical Funny Festival newbies Guy McDonald, Carl Wastie and Siv Ngesi. With a line-up like this, things are bound to be manic!
