Heart 104.9FM’s Keri Miller’s Top Reasons to #LoveCapeTown
Fazielah Williams has lived in and loved her Mother City since birth. Having lived all over the Peninsula during her childhood, she now calls the picturesque City Bowl home and likes nothing more than watching the sun set over Table Bay from the window of her apartment.
A lover of the arts and proud Cape Town fanatic, Fazielah began her writing career by spending many hours as a child conjuring fantastical stories that featured independent heroines from faraway lands who saved the Prince instead. This Capetonian princess has enjoyed stints as a magical arts PRO and TV publicist before finding her calling as a travel writer.
When not waxing lyrical about the Fairest Cape’s most loved attractions and activities and embarking on unexpected adventures, Fazielah can usually be found taking in a show at one of the City’s fabulous theatres.
You’ve heard her vibrant, upbeat voice on local radio station Heart 104.9FM’s Afternoon Drive show and seen her at events around the Mother City but do you know what makes the gorgeous Keri Miller #LoveCapeTown?
Born and raised in Durban, and a former resident of the United States of America, Keri has found a geographic soul mate of sorts in our inspirational hometown since 2009.
I chatted to the lovely Keri to discover her best spots in our World Design Capital and why she #Love(s) CapeTown:
What Are Your Top 3 Things To Do In Cape Town?
1 -I realize how much this is going to shock people… but one of my top things to do is go to work at Heart 104.9FM. I have a great view of the city, I work with great people, and I get to speak to hundreds of thousands of Capetonians every day.
2 - Watching sunsets, from anywhere in this beautiful city. LOVE LOVE LOVE my Cape Town sunsets
3 – Wine, wine and more wine! I have a new respect for the wine making process and I adore a stroll around the beautiful wine farms, learning about their history and doing tastings. Many, many tastings.
What Is Your Hidden Gem In Cape Town?
Just in front of my flat, a little walk down the road is the most beautiful lookout point. With a perfect view of Green Point and the V&A Waterfront, it’s just gorgeous. I like to take a blanket, a book and just go and chill.
Also, there is a wonderful little pizza place called ‘Ferdinando’s’ at the very top of Napier Road, in the chef’s home, which has the most phenomenal pizza and vibe. It’s a “bring your own” drinks, and it’s an honesty bar. I’ve had MANY a great night there. ;)
What Do You Miss Most about the Mother City When You’re Away?
This city has a vibe that truly feeds my soul. I’m just happier when I’m here. I miss everything.
What Is The Most Surprising Thing You’ve Recently Learnt About Cape Town?
That the flat I’m currently living in was once (a very small section) of a building that housed slaves back in the day.
Oh, and that Table Mountain faces north! (My geography has been very confused since moving here since 2009 haha)
How Does #LoveCape Town Inspire You?
#LoveCapeTown inspires me to be friendlier. There are so many visitors in this city, and I’m always surprised at the amazing stories that can follow a simple smile and ‘hello’ to a stranger.
If You Could Choose One Song That Bests Describes Cape Town, What Would It Be And Why?
Bob Marley – Sun is Shining.
I just love this song, and the feel of it… it’s laid back, it’s filled with love and good times. Just like my city!
Why Do You #LoveCapeTown?
I #LoveCapeTown because is my soul food! And because she’s been very, very good to me!
