The Mother City is bursting with excitement for the first Gugulethu Wine Festival, to be held on the rooftop of the Gugulethu Square Mall on Friday May 27 and Saturday May 28, 2011.

The brainchild of popular local businessmen Mzoli Ngcawuzele and Lungile Mbalo the festival is testament to their passion for bringing viticulture to the vibrant Gugulethu township.

With more than 200 wines to be showcased and more than 2 000 people expected to attend, these local businessmen hope to educate residents and visitors alike about the joys of wine-drinking.

From learning to pair the right food and wine at the Nederberg Taste Festival to hobnobbing with savvy journalists at the City Press Lounge, getting down to the latest hits with the Heart 104.9FM DJs at the Wine Arena to feasting on Mzoli’s lekker meat in the restaurant area, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Main sponsor TOPS will ensure that you’ll never be thirsty at the festival. Swirl and savour some of their premier brands at their stand.

The festival organisers are champions of the responsible drinking cause so there will be return trip coaches available for R150 from the V&A Waterfront’s Clock Tower each day. Alternatively, you can also use the taxi services provided by the people of Gugulethu at the Clock Tower.

Entertainment, fantastic food and free wine are yours to enjoy! Tickets for the festival and the return coach trips are available at Webtickets.
