Cape Town is filled with beautiful beaches, delicious cuisine, a majestic mountain and, of course, a vocal group of active bloggers.

The city’s diverse blogging community has pounced on various topics — such as wine, fashion, lifestyle, art and travel — on which to inform locals and visitors.

And this August, those bloggers and many more will lace words together under one roof at the Getaway Travel Blog Conference at the Upper Eastside Hotel in Cape Town, in partnership with Cape Town Tourism.

Saturday, August 4 2012, will see Cape Town’s travel bloggers ferociously devour information provided by local and international blogosphere experts on various topics such as getting inspired to put fingers to keyboard, building your brand and leveraging social media platforms.

CEO of Cape Town Toursim, Mariëtte du-Toit Helmbold will speak on travel in the digital space, while Getaway editor, Cameron Ewart-Smith, will discuss getting inspiration for your travel blog.

“Travel bloggers are the ambassadors of a new digital age in tourism but, with so much information and choice out there, they may have a challenging time enticing readers. This conference will assist them in sharpening their tools when it comes to writing and presenting user-friendly travel content,” says du-Toit Helmbold.

This year’s guest speakers will also include international travel bloggers Keith Jenkins of Velvet Escape luxury travel blog (@velvetescape), Nellie Huang from Wild Junket (@wildjunket), Melvin Boecher of Traveldudes (@traveldudes) and Matt Long from Landlopers (@landlopers). Speakers will discuss topics ranging from the way travel bloggers are changing the media landscape, sponsored blogging and selling advertising, leveraging social media channels and writing to drive traffic.

“What’s most exciting is that this blog conference has attracted international interest. We feel honoured to have such high-profile bloggers speaking at our event,” said Ewart-Smith.
