Da Gama Cross at Cape Point

Spring is in the air and the weather appears to be behaving. Why not use SANParks Week as the perfect excuse to explore the South African National Park closest to you. Bontebok, Table Mountain, West Coast plus many more – and all for free! Here’s what you can expect:

Table Mountain

Spend a day at Cape Point and explore the most south-westerly point in Africa. Enjoy free guided two to three hour long walks from 10h00, 11h00 or 12h00 along the coast of the Cape of Good Hope from Tuesday 10 September to Thursday 12 September (spots are limited so get there quickly). Email lauren.howard@sanparks.org for more.

King Proteas make for wonderful scenery on a beautiful mountain walk.

Metrorail offering daily return train-trips from Cape Town to Simons Town and for a transport package of R120 per adult and R60 for children, students and senior citizens HGTS Tours are offering luxury-coach journeys to Cape Point for the duration of SA National Parks Week. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Meghan Horne of Metrorail’s Rail Tourism Promotions Department on 021 449-3018 / 2366 or by emailing promotions@metrorail.co.za

The Two Oceans Restaurant at Cape Point will also be running a promotion for the duration of SA National Parks Week. Grab your family and make the most out of their fantastic offer with retail shops also hosting their own specials.

West Coast, close to Langebaan

Flower season makes the Postberg section of the Park magic. Have something to eat at Geelbek Restaurant and then go off to experience the spectacular colourful carpets of wild flowers. Don’t forget to include Seeberg Lookout Point and Mooimaak (by bicycle only) as part of your adventures. When the great outdoors call, you don’t want to be stuck doing paperwork. Download the gate registration form, fill it out before arriving and then just focus on enjoying the day.
