For perfect winter walks – Flickr pic of the day
Paul says, “It was an unusually warm winter’s afternoon when I captured these rocks and cloudy sunset at a small cove near Camps Bay beach, perfect weather conditions for photography. I discovered this composition just as the sun was about to set below the horizon. The light was still quite bright though, so I decided to hide the sun behind that large rock in an attempt to control the huge difference in exposure between the bright sky and the dark shadows. I took a dozen or so photographs from this angle, hoping that I’d get at least one where everything looked good. It was only when I returned home and reviewed my images on my computer that I noticed how perfectly I’d managed to capture that wave breaking over the big rock in the centrr-foreground. Skill or serendipity? Definitely the latter!”
