Kite flying on Strand beach – Flickr pic of the dayJan 2, 2009

Steve says: “We moved to Cape Town from Gauteng nine years ago and settled in Strand, near the beach and away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

The Cape Town area is great for a photographer like myself, with such diverse subjects as beaches, vineyards, mountains and historical buildings all within a short drive. I love to take walks on Strand beach with my camera, which is where I took this photo one Saturday afternoon during an international kiteboarding event.

Another favourite way for my wife and I to spend a day is to take a drive along the False Bay coast on Baden Powell Drive to Muizenberg, down the peninsula through picturesque villages and towns like Kalk Bay and Simonstown before turning northwards and wending our way up the Atlantic seaboard, through the city and back home via the N2. This affords the opportunity to stop for photographs at many places and despite following roughly the same route, the trip is never the same twice.”

Hi Steve,
Nice pictures you have taken. I am in CT for two weeks, and I am looking for a photograher who could take some pictures of me kiting in Blouberg. Can you do that? How much does it cost? Please, explain a bit. I am not the best kiter, but manage the kite quite well. Pls e-mail me. Best, Sverre
