Fazielah’s top three weekend beach spots in Cape Town
Fazielah Williams
Fazielah Williams has lived in and loved her Mother City since birth. Having lived all over the Peninsula during her childhood, she now calls the picturesque City Bowl home and likes nothing more than watching the sun set over Table Bay from the window of her apartment.
A lover of the arts and proud Cape Town fanatic, Fazielah began her writing career by spending many hours as a child conjuring fantastical stories that featured independent heroines from faraway lands who saved the Prince instead. This Capetonian princess has enjoyed stints as a magical arts PRO and TV publicist before finding her calling as a travel writer.
When not waxing lyrical about the Fairest Cape’s most loved attractions and activities and embarking on unexpected adventures, Fazielah can usually be found taking in a show at one of the City’s fabulous theatres.

I simply cannot contain my excitement when I think of a long, lazy day spent suntanning and relaxing on one of Cape Town’s beautiful, sandy, white beaches.
Combine that with a cold drink, sweet ice cream and the company of loved ones and you have my idea of a perfect weekend in the Mother City.
Join me at the following beach spots from November 16 to 18, 2012 and discover why Cape Town was rated as one of the Lonely Planet's Ten Best Beach Cities in 2011:
Oudekraal Beach and Picnic Spot
This often-hidden beach gem is nestled in an enclosed cove, close to the more well-known Camps Bay.
Thanks to constantly changing tides, the view of the Oudekraal boulders is never quite the same. Its calm waters and braai facilities make it ideal for that longed-for beach day.
Big Bay Beach
The jewel in Blaauwberg’s crown, Big Bay offers a laidback vibe to its visitors.
Whether you’re an adrenaline-seeking junkie with a love of kitesurfing or simply an avid swimmer, you’ll feel right at home.
Head over to Cubana or Café Sofia Beach Bar along the strip for sweet cocktails after a deliciously cool dip.
Sunrise Beach
With waves that lure surfers to her like a siren, a flea market to appease the shopaholics and a water park that will keep the kids entertained for hours, Sunrise Beach in Muizenberg is the perfect family beach spot.
