Fazielah’s top three festive weekend events in Cape Town

Don't miss the first Hot Summer of Touch rugby match at Strand Beach on Saturday 15 December, 2012

Deck the halls with cheer and holly, Cape Town fanatics, because it’s officially the festive season in the Mother City! What that means, party animals, is that we are free to let our hair down and boogie like there’s no work on Monday…

Join me at the following events, from Friday 14 to Monday 17 December, 2012, and discover why the fun never stops in Cape Town:

Hot Summer of Touch 2012

Muscular men in shorts playing for top honours on a white, sandy beach ... yes, that does sound like my idea of heaven. And now you can enjoy it too with the start of the Hot Summer of Touch rugby series this Saturday.

Bigger and better than ever, this year’s highly anticipated tournament will see 450 teams putting their ball skills to the test on beaches all along the Southern Cape coastline, starting at Strand Beach.

MCQP 2012

Let your fairy godmother wave her magic wand and transform you into the prince or princess you deserve to be for the largest lifestyle party of the year, the Mother City Queer Project (MCQP) at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday night – the theme is Fairy Tale Fantasy.

If you haven’t bought your tickets to the fairy-tale ball of the year, book them on +27 (0)21 461 1645 now. Hurry, before the clock strikes 12!

Cape Town Summer Market

If you’re a shopaholic with a penchant for roses and the outdoors, you’ll love the Cape Town Summer Market in the Company’s Garden this weekend.

Perfect for some last-minute gift shopping, this 11-day market also presents a great opportunity to visit some of the Garden’s biggest attractions, including the South African National Museum, the Iziko Slave Lodge and the Planetarium.
