Events this weekend at Cape Town’s FIFA Fan fest™

This weekend the Cape Town FIFA Fan Fest™ promises to be spectacular, with live soccer and local talent performing for your entertainment.

Soccer Saturday officially opens at 13h00 on June 26. Uruguay vs South Korea kick off at 16h00 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, opening the soccer action for the day.

Keeping you entertained from 18h00 to 20h30 is Phuzekhemisi, a traditional African singer described as a “musical activist for peace” but well known for his controversial lyrics. Phuzekhemisi has released a number of platinum-selling albums, including titles such as “Impimpi” and “Imikhonto”.

At 20h30 USA play Ghana at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg and DJ Olly wraps up the day’s proceedings.

Family Sunday opens at 13h00 when Germany plays England at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.

From 18h00, singer, songwriter, musician and actor Danny K is sure to impress audiences. He’s worked with artists such as Craig David, Puff Daddy, U2, Queen and Beyonce and has been nominated for numerous South African Music Awards, winning four times.

South Africa’s top-selling, Grammy Award-winning group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, will follow Danny K at 19h15. This group has recorded with a number of international artists including Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban and Ben Harper. 

Argentina and Mexico battle it out at Soccer City in Johannesburg at 20h30, followed by one of South Africa’s legendary underground DJ groups, Krushed & Sorted.
