England goal controversy: Should technology be used?
England crashed out of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ on Sunday, after losing 4-1 to Germany in Bloemfontein.
There was, however, a very controversial incident during the match, when a shot from England midfielder Frank Lampard bounced from the crossbar to the other side of the goal line, but the goal was not awarded. England were in a similar situation against Germany in the final of the 1966 World Cup, only that time the goal was ruled in favour of Geoff Hurst and England, who went on to their only World Cup title.
Sunday’s situation has bought into question whether or not FIFA should be making better use of modern technology. The video below, filmed by Zoopy TV in Cape Town, looks closer at the issue.
