Durbanville before dawn – Flickr pic of the day

Durbanville farmlands

This scenic view of the Durbanville farmlands and crop lines before daybreak was caught on camera by our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Paul Bruins aka Panorama Paul.

Paul says, “For me, the best reason to get out of bed before sunrise is driving out into the Durbanville farmlands looking for new and interesting compositions. Now that we’ve had some good rains in the Western Cape, the dry landscapes have all been transformed into lush green again, making them more photogenic than ever. I especially enjoy the few weeks after the wheat seedlings have germinated, as this is the best time to photograph the lines and curves created by the parallel rows of young plants. These lines can be used to great effect, grabbing the viewer’s attention and leading their eyes from the foreground towards the background!”
