The Delhi Daredevils find themselves at the top of the leader board after beating the Kolkata Knight Riders, their fifth triumph of the DLF Indian Premier League, on May 5, 2009.
Although the grounds at Kingsmead were slightly moist during the game, it could not justify the Kolkata Knight Riders’ shocking performance when they dropped three catches against the Delhi Daredevils.
Matthew Hayden is currently wearing the Orange Cap as the leading run-scorer with a total of 289 runs. Dilshan of the Delhi Daredevils is fourth in the race for the Cap with 231 runs in the 2009 season of the DLF IPL in South Africa.
Gambhir, stand-in captain for Virender Sehwag, who is out with a hand injury, predicts that it won’t be long before teammate Dilshan wears the Orange Cap.
“It is very close on the table, so it’s very important to win these games. In our team meeting we discussed someone staying to finish off, and I was the one to bat through,” said man of the match Gambhir.
IPL fans can look forward to further action until the finals on May 24, 2009.
