Cycling Cape Town – A Cape Town Tourism photo essay

Cape Town is host to a number of cycle races but is also suited to both amatuer and professional cyclists with an array of routes from which to choose.

This weekend why not explore Cape Town on two wheels and take in both its natural beauty and diversity.

Our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. Flickr group and Cape Town Tourism member AWOL Tours offer various cycle tours around the cape.

Visit Masiphumelele, an informal Shanty community by cycling with AWOL Tours. Our local qualified guide Zwai will escort guests around the township, visiting interesting places and explaining Xhosa customs. You have a chance to do a story reading and painting session with children at the Masivela creche.

Part of the tour proceeds go towards the betterment of the facilities. Enjoy tea in an African home and sample authentic African cuisine. This international award winning socially responsible Bicycle Tour in provides guests the opportunity to meet and interact with the local community from a bicycle seat.

The Cape Peninsula, where sea, sky and the mountains meet, is a unique world waiting to be explored. Feel the exhilaration of exploring the Cape Peninsula accompanied by a personalised nature guide. Wildlife can be seen amongst the unique vegetation of the Cape Floral Kingdom.

Travel to Cape of Good Hope, the most South Westerly corner on the African Continent. Enjoy a leisurely hike from Cape of Good Hope to Cape Point, making the legend of the renowned “Cape of Storms” come alive. Relax and enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch. En route visit the remarkable African Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach. After a day of activity, enjoy sundowners on the beach with the Cape’s best wine.
