The talented students of the Rainbow Academy will take to the streets of Cape Town on December 1 and dance for the rights of those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, as part of World AIDS Day 2010 commemorations in the city. Members of the public are encouraged to join the cast of The Cape Town Show outside Mandela Rhodes Place on St George’s Mall from 13h30.
In The Cape Town Show, performers depict the Mother City’s rich history through energetic dance numbers and soulful tunes. The cast includes Walied Fortuin, Sinethemba Dorame, Thabo Spelman, Justin Kok, Angus Swarts, Sinovuyo Nzukuma, Amy Petterson, Roxanne Abrahams, Nokubonga Manyawya and Nakeshia Kerchhoff.
Cast members were selected to attend the Rainbow Academy from hundreds of young people who have a passion for the arts but cannot afford to train professionally. Founded by Frank Gormley and Alison McCutcheon, who are also the co-owners of the Rainbow Room at Mandela Rhodes Place, the academy helps young students hone their performance skills.
