Clifton Beach – Flickr pic of the day
Clifton’s Fourth Beach not only boasts beautiful white sand and an invitingly turquoise ocean, it is the place to be seen in Cape Town.
While the beach is safe for swimming, be warned – the Atlantic water is very cold, no matter what time of the year you visit.
Life-guards are on duty during peak season and on the weekends, but never underestimate the undertow.
During the height of summer, finding parking along the M6 motorway can be a nightmare so it’s a good idea to take the shuttle from your hotel, or make use of the regular buses that run along this stretch of coastline and service both Clifton and Hout Bay from the city centre.
Accommodation is available at numerous apartment buildings and villas in Clifton, but make sure you book early – particularly if looking for space during peak season.
