City Sightseeing in Cape Town for senior citizens
Fazielah Williams
Fazielah Williams has lived in and loved her Mother City since birth. Having lived all over the Peninsula during her childhood, she now calls the picturesque City Bowl home and likes nothing more than watching the sun set over Table Bay from the window of her apartment.
A lover of the arts and proud Cape Town fanatic, Fazielah began her writing career by spending many hours as a child conjuring fantastical stories that featured independent heroines from faraway lands who saved the Prince instead. This Capetonian princess has enjoyed stints as a magical arts PRO and TV publicist before finding her calling as a travel writer.
When not waxing lyrical about the Fairest Cape’s most loved attractions and activities and embarking on unexpected adventures, Fazielah can usually be found taking in a show at one of the City’s fabulous theatres.

Enjoying your time in the Mother City is a given, what with our views, attractions and culture. Thanks to City Sightseeing Cape Town, though, senior citizens can now enjoy all of those things and more for less, with its winter special for pensioners.
Launched on May 1 and running until October 15, this deal sees senior citizens only paying half-price for a ride on the City Sightseeing Bus or boat cruise each Friday.
Enjoy a memorable day in and around the Peninsula and the Table Bay Harbour with your friends or take along your grandkids this school holiday.
Purchase your half-price tickets (R75 for a bus ride and R10 for the boat cruise) at Bus Stop 1 outside the Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront. You may not look a day over 25 but the bus driver and salesman will need to see your valid South African identity document for you to qualify for this offer.
Still need some convincing to throw off the duvet on a Friday? Here’s what Corinna Turner said about her half-price pensioner experience:
“As pensioners, my friend Pat and I decided to take advantage of Cape Town City Sightseeing Pensioners Half-Price Friday offer. We were unable to rustle up any grandchildren for our outing but the cheaper Friday gives grandparents a chance to take their grandkids on one of the tours. Of course, you don’t have to take children along if you just want some peace and quiet. We rather like the Blue Route Mini Peninsula Tour as there is a lot to see and do along the route, and it also includes the bonus trip of a visit to Groot Constantia, the oldest vineyard in South Africa.”
