City Sightseeing couple hop off, get engaged
Stuart Buchanan is a journalist, blogger, and online writer for Flow Communications.
He grew up in Durban and has lived in various parts of South Africa and the UK, before finally settling on Cape Town. He often wonders why anyone would want to live anywhere else.
Clouds were in the sky and love was in the air on Table Mountain, when two City Sightseeing passengers got engaged.
The cloudy morning couldn't put a damper on Elmer Marthinus' plans for the day – he took his girlfriend, Anneen Marais, on the Red City Tour and used the opportunity to hop on and hop off the bus to find the right spot, and pop the question.
Elmer (26) fulfilled his wish of proposing to his love on Table Mountain.
"When we got to the top, he blindfolded me," explained Anneen (25). "Then, after leading me around a bit, he sat me down and took off the blindfold ... and proposed."
And the best part? She said yes!
The Worcester couple, who have been together for three years, plan to marry in 2013.
For others who may be romantically inclined, City Sightseeing has recently launched a Night Tour, which stops on Signal Hill in time for the beautiful Cape Town sunset.
