Celebrating the World Cup countdown in Athlone
Friday saw Cape Town celebrating 20 Days to the 2010 World Cup kick off. Celebrations held at the Athlone Stadium were arranged by the People’s Bus roadshow team, an initiative of SA Tourism, who have been travelling around the country generating excitement for the upcoming tournament.
Crowds were entertained by a Diski Dance flash mob after an inspiring speech by Cape Town Tourism CEO Mariëtte du Toit-Helmbold, who encouraged the city to demonstrate to the world that they are worthy hosts of the World Cup, telling them to Live it, Love it, LOUDER.
The event was a great success and the crowd’s enthusiasm was both rewarded and heightened by the handing out of vuvuzelas and t-shirts.
