Cape Town winter’s day – Flickr pic of the day
Alex says, “It was a lovely winter’s day in Cape Town and I decided to go for a motor scooter ride on the back roads between Durbanville and Philadelphia. The area is really scenic at this time of year, with rolling wheatfields alternating with fields of yellow canola. The mountains between Stellenbosch and Wellington provide a beautiful backdrop.
“I took my camera along for the ride and made many stops along the way to take photographs.
“Riding along the R304 from Klipheuwel to Philadelphia, I spotted a minor road off to the left. This is the Old Malmesbury Road, which is mostly disused. It is very narrow, potholed and bumpy, but it also has spectacular scenery. The picture of the windmill was taken on one of my stops along the road.
“This road eventually comes out on the N7, between the Melbosstrand turnoff and Potsdam Road.
“All in all, it’s a really lovely drive, which is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace.”
