Cape Town wine estates: Take a tour
Photo © Cape Town Tourism
Some of the world’s finest wines are produced in the Cape and those lucky enough to be living in or visiting Cape Town can explore the beautiful vineyard areas beyond the Mother City and sample the famous produce.
The Cape Winelands are as well known for their breathtaking beauty as they are for their decadent wine. The historic towns of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl, Wellington and the Constantia Valley have long been revered as expert wine producers.
During the late 1600s, Cape Town’s first governor, Simon van der Stel, established South Africa’s first wine estate, Groot Constantia. Today, Constantia Valley is home to a superb wine route, as well as a fine assortment of restaurants and shops.
