Cape Town weekend highlights, October 8 - 10

Paulaner Bräuhaus at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town will be hosting its own version of Germany’s most famous beer festival, the Oktoberfest, from Friday, October 8, until October 31, 2010.
The Oktoberfest, which is held in Munich every year, attracts beer lovers and partygoers from around the world. Cape Town has strong ties with Germany and Paulaner Bräuhaus has become a very popular watering hole at the Waterfront. During the next few weeks, the venue will host oompah bands as well as live contemporary music.

It appears Saturday will offer the best outdoor weather this weekend. According to the South African Weather Service, this is what to expect of the next few days:
Friday: Maximum temperature of 17°C, overcast skies, 30% chance of rain
Saturday: Maximum temperature of 21°C, partly cloudy skies, no chance of rain
Sunday: Maximum temperature of 18°C, overcast skies, 60% chance of rain

Rocking the Daisies
Rocking the Daisies is a popular music festival that takes place in the town of Darling, which is a one-hour drive north of Cape Town. The festival begins on Friday, October 8 and ends on Sunday, October 10.
The lineup includes Flash Republic, Springbok Nude Girls, HHP, City Bowl Mizers and many others.

Cape Town International Boat Show
The Cape Town International Boat Show takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from Friday, October 8 to Sunday, October 10. Special displays and events will also be held at the V&A Waterfront throughout the weekend.
Doors open at 10h00 every day, closing at 18h00 on Friday and Saturday and 17h00 on Sunday. Tickets are R60 per person.

Western Province vs Sharks at Newlands
Western Province and the Sharks are arguably the two most exciting teams in South African rugby, because of the running game that they both play. On Saturday, these two teams will meet at Newlands for a Currie Cup clash that starts at 17h05.
Most tickets for this match have already been sold, but anyone wanting to make enquiries can phone the Western Province Rugby Union on +27 (0)21 659 4600.
Good after-party venues include Foresters Arms in Newlands, as well as Oblivion Wine Bar and Tiger Tiger in Claremont.
