Cape Town Tourism ad agency scoops top award at Loeries
Saturday night’s Loerie Awards ceremony saw Ogilvy Cape Town claim a number of accolades that reaffirmed it as one of the leading ad agencies in the country. It was awarded the Grand Prix for its Live Activations entry for Volkswagen’s “Marching Band”. The video shows a Cape Minstrel band marching along Sea Point promenade, silently playing as local residents and tourists look on.
Ogilvy was recently appointed by Cape Town Tourism as its advertising agency for the remainder of the organisation’s financial year, to pay special regard to the development and implementation of Cape Town Tourism’s marketing campaign, a key element of our strategic plan.
By winning the Grand Prix, Ogilvy is automatically entered into the outdoor advertising category at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival and receives an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the event. Ogilvy previously won the Cannes Gold Lion Award in the film category at the 57th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.
Ogilvy Cape Town also won the ADreach Street-Pole Award for Stimorol’s “Yoda” and picked up a bronze in the Ubuntu Award category for its work on Kiwi’s Takkie Brite Bozza campaign. The Ubuntu Award recognises brands contributing to social and environmental change.
Ogilvy Cape Town managing director Gavin Levinsohn said: “We’re thrilled at the win, thrilled at ending up as the third best agency overall and as the best largest agency overall, and we’re happy that another Cape Town agency was voted best overall agency. This is testament to Cape Town as a creative capital.”
He also commended on the organisation of the Loeries weekend and the host, Cape Town. “The Loeries event this year was excellent; it just keeps getting better and better. We’re excited about the opportunity to work with Cape Town Tourism, further extending Cape Town’s position as a truly inspirational city.”
