Cape Town shuttle landing: What a parking attendant would do

shuttle cape town

South Africa is known for its entrepreneurial and innovative parking attendants (also referred to as car guards), who have the ability to direct big vehicles into small spaces using eccentric hand signals and precise planning. A spoof video explores the possible reaction of a parking attendant in Cape Town if a space shuttle were to randomly land in the street.

Poking some fun at films such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Apollo 13 and Armageddon, the video below boasts some quality computer-generated imagery and features several Cape Town landmarks, including the upper station of Table Mountain Cableway and sections of the city centre. The space shuttle ends up at the Civic Centre, which is now the terminal for the airport shuttle bus service.

The video above was produced by Simon Hansen and Sharlto Copley in 2006, and taken from the YouTube channel of VENACARVA2.
