Cape Town Pride, the annual festival that celebrates the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender residents and visitors in the Mother City, concludes with a series of big events this weekend, such as the Pride Parade at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday morning.
Participants in the parade will gather in Beach Road outside Cape Town Stadium at 11h00 and will proceed to march along Main Road in Sea Point, eventually ending up back at the stadium. The theme for this year’s parade is “Love Our Diversity”.
According to the Cape Town Pride website, Saturday will be “the most FABULOUS day on Cape Town’s calendar” with a “friendly and diverse” vibe about the event.
This year’s official Cape Town Pride afterparty will be held at CREW Bar in Napier Street, starting at 20h00 on Saturday. The theme is “Army Camp” and guests are encouraged to arrive in army vests, camo pants and “booty boots”. According to the event poster, there will be a “Drill Sergent” disc jockey spinning the decks, while the “hottest dancers” and “all-out sexy barmen” will add greatly to the occasion. Entrance to this party is free of charge.
On Sunday, there will be a Pride Hike up Lion’s Head, starting at 14h00, as well as a Pride Celebration Service at Goodhope Metropolitan Community Church, starting at 18h00.
