Cape Town Marathon 2011 results
The 2011 Cape Town Marathon was won by Amos Maiyo of Kenya, who completed the 42km race in a time of 02:14:55. On a hot, sunny day in the Mother City, Maiyo left the other 1 800 entrants in his wake as he powered home in an Olympic qualifying time. Maiyo is now R25 000 richer as a result of his win.
Second place went to South African Raphael Segodi, who was two minutes behind Maiyo. Anthony Godongwana finished third.
Chiyedza Chokore of Zimbabwe was the first woman home in a time of 02:46:31, followed by fellow Zimbabwean, Margaret Mohohoma. Bulelwa Mtshagi finished third.
There were also some very quick times in the 10km event, which was won by Stephen Mokoka in 28:45, followed by Tshamano Setone and Gladwin Mzazi.
Irvette van Blerk was the fastest woman, finishing in 33:20. She was followed by Rene Kalmer and Zintle Xiniwe.
Enter the Gun Run
The 2011 Gun Run takes place on Sunday, October 9. The race starts and finishes at Hamilton’s Rugby Club in Green Point. There is a 21km event, as well as 10km and 5km events. Get your entry forms from any Sportsman’s Warehouse and submit your entries before Friday, October 2.
