Cape Town embraces redsockfriday – A Cape Town Tourism photo essay
What’s known as redsockfriday – an initiative started by Capetonian John McInroy – calls upon citizens of the world to sport a pair of bright red socks each Friday as a way of celebrating “friendship and the human connection”. It’s taking the world by storm, represented in 35 countries across the globe.
“[redsockfriday] means remembering your family, your friends, the life that you are afforded to live and the energy you carry with you, knowing that others are remembering those same qualities in you.
“It is our dream to unite all passionate people around the world and bring out the passion that sits in every one of us,” says the Mother City’s McInroy. And it seems that Capetonians agree.
Across the city, people are donning scarlet socks in support of the campaign and can be spotted everywhere from Surfers Corner to Lion’s Head.
