Cape Town Countryside – A Cape Town Tourism photo essay
This week, we set our sights on outer Cape Town, focusing on the countryside, where our Cape Town. Live it. Love it. group member Jo-Ann Stokes aka JStokes2008 went exploring – with beautiful results.
Just before you get into the beautiful, quaint town of Franschhoek, you pass this cottage, which is set on a lavender farm. Each season is a feast for the eyes, as the landscape has something different to offer all year round.
This picture was taken just outside Franschoek, a beautiful old town surrounded by towering mountains and stunning vineyards – landscape beauty at its best.
De Doorns is a farming community about 120km outside Cape Town. Some stunning wines and brandies come from this region. When you look out over the valley in Autumn, the vineyards make up a beautiful patchwork quilt of autumnal colours – it’s a must-see!
There are some amazing photographic finds in the wheat and barley fields alongside the back routes of Durbanville and the Philadelphia roads. This abandoned house was found on one such farm. It seems such a shame not renovate it but, unfortunately, it is miles away from anywhere!
This picture was taken from inside a dilapidated old labourer’s cottage on a beautiful fruit farm outside Stellenbosch. It has the most amazing lake view and is surrounded by the stunning Hottentot Mountains!
Do you have images of Cape Town you’d like to share with us? We’d love you to join the Cape Town. Live it. Love it. Flickr group!
