The City of Cape Town has released a list of more than 1 100 highly talented artists from Cape Town and surrounding areas who will perform at the city’s official 2010 FIFA World Cup™ events from June 11 to July 11, 2010.

These performers, who come from all walks of life, will perform at the FIFA Fan Fest™ in Grand Parade, at the four public viewing areas, and along the Fan Walk.

In preparation for the tournament, they have attended various courses, equipping them with the stage skills to perform in front of large audiences and the marketing skills to help them continue promoting themselves beyond July 2010. For many artists from remote areas, this is the chance of a lifetime.

The selected performers cover a wide variety of genres, ensuring entertainment for the diversity of cultures that will be visiting Cape Town in the coming weeks.

“The public auditions provided a wonderful forum to identify the cream of Cape Town’s emerging talent. This was an open, transparent process managed by the Performing Arts Network of South Africa (PANSA) on behalf of the city,” says Pam Naidoo, 2010 project co-ordinator for the City of Cape Town.
